During London Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of sitting next to Angela of A Blush of Rose and she described London to me as “a quilt with many different patches.” I hadn’t thought of it in this way, but London is such a diverse city and it’s true that each section has its own unique flavor. Walk for twenty minutes and you will practically be in a different world! From the tiny streets of Soho to the wide plazas in Westminster, expect nothing less than surprises from this cultural hub.
Stroll all the way through central London to the west and you might just find yourself surrounded by the pastel houses of Notting Hill. Of course I had high expectations for this part of London– I grew up believing Julia Roberts was the ultimate cool girl! While Portobello Road is a bit touristy, there is no denying that the shops and surrounding neighborhood are très charmant. Off the beaten path, explore gorgeous gardens and streets laden with four story townhouses in every hue. Keep an eye out for a plaque signifying George Orwell’s once residence! And before you head back into the hustle and bustle of the city, I’d suggest squeezing between the racks at Retro Clothing for some vintage finds and stopping for a cupcake at Hummingbird Bakery🙂
