One of those days when I might not venture outside until 2pm, but when I do it’s like breathing the first breath: hello world, I’m back! With a little sashay down the street, I’ll wander and look up at ornate windows and crumbling facades, smile at old couples walking hand in hand and stop asking myself the question of why? why? why? I might meet a friend for a latte in a tucked away cafe, or sit on a bench by the Thames reading poetry before walking along to take pictures in puddles of birds and lovers. And then…I’ll stroll pass the Courtauld and stop to think, hey I haven’t yet been. And thank goodness I do: the interior is lavish with angels and flowers; the Impressionist paintings tear-worthy.
All of this to say, I’ve brought a bit of a Parisian attitude back to London. Here’s hoping this flaneur mindset is here to stay.
And as for my outfit? Well, it’s the best Parisian I can do. At least I know the scarf is! And it’s new…to me. But, really, it’s quite old, an Hermes silk from the 1970s that has lived far longer than I. This too, was from Old Soul Vintage, my new favorite Etsy boutique that specializes in vintage designer button jewelry. As soon as I saw the scarf, I knew it had to be mine: first of all, I have been wanting one for it seems like forever and second, because it was red and gold, two of my absolute favorites. And third, because it is oh-so-French and you know how much I love to pretend I am 😉
