Happy Fourth of July to all my American friends! It is somewhat humorous that I celebrate our Independence Day in the country that we gained independence from…but, I’m sure we can all agree that it’s a different day and age. I think our countries are on the same side now 🙂 The 4th is a holiday that has left me with so many wonderful memories that of course I have to celebrate in some small way. Also, it is a part of my heritage- Land of the Free! Home of the Brave! How thankful I am for the country that has given me everything. As is my tradition, I was thinking of making a flag cake with strawberries and blueberries. But, on the off-chance that I don’t, at least I will have this post as a mini purveyor of cheer.
I’m very excited to share with you a new passion of mine– dressmaking! I recently bought a sewing machine and have been scouring Youtube for great tutorials and Pinterest for patterns (I’ve linked some of my finds). Right now, I am all about clothes made with elastic because they are sew easy to make 😉 And, ideal for hot summertime when you just want to throw on something quick and comfortable. This shirt took me less than two hours, including skinny scarf and is a great place to start for beginners. Let me know if you make one or if you have other sources for tutorials/patterns in the comment section. And…light a sparkler for me! xo
